"Hedonism."

A single word - such was Gabriel's summary of Rubi's little rant. Him, afraid of taking part in everything life had to offer? And what exactly did she know, about him, to make an ignorant statement like that? An Oracle of Delphi, reborn? Bah!

"Your words don't wound me, pet. If you are trying to get me riled up, draw out some kind of overblown reaction - you are going about it in all the wrong ways."

That much was true. Relaxing his grip on her, Gabriel stared at the dislocated skin, hanging down in ugly strips, next to the slowly trickling trails of blood. While one hand was still on Rubi's shoulder, the other palm pressed against her back, thumb smearing the blood, as if attempting to wipe its trail, up and down... before lifting his thumb and taking it into his mouth, licking and suckling the vitae off the calloused digit.

A moment of silence followed.

"All that you claim to enjoy - all that your life supposedly has to offer - the Toreador make it an art. But after all is said and done, at the end of the day it is merely... hedonism. You lack perspective. I am giving it to you, free of charge. As for dying - that can be easily arranged. How would you like it: stabbing? ...poison? ...decapitation? ...hanging? ...drug overdose? ...choking on my dick? And that's just scratching the surface. So make your choice. I can give you back your intended destiny. All you have to do - is say one word."

Whatever happened to fucking and sucking her dry?

Sod off.

"Please."

She snorted amusedly. The single word summed it up very nicely. It almost bothered her that she hadn't remembered it, but then again, English. Her mind still worked in Spanish most of the time. Listening to what he said she smirked and leaned into him.

"I could say the same about you. You are obviously trying to find an emotional nerve to poke at since I am sure you have realized by now that picking at the physical ones isn't as fun as with most mortals."

Feeling the grip on her loosen she got curious as to what he was planning. The cold touch to her pack made her twitch in surprise before she settled again, feeling how he played with the blood that was coming from her wounds. With the earlier ones she was sure her back wasn't a pretty sight, but then again for someone like him, maybe it was.

When he spoke she laughed softly. It made a bit more sense now, hearing his clan. Of course, she knew of the different clans. Her stepfather had told her of them from she was very young. He himself had been Brujah. Seemed like she might be up for a long night. She waited until he was finished before she replied, still wondering when the last time she had said please was.

"I have no interest in dying permanently. Or it happening now, I still have things to do first, as a human. So I am sorry to disappoint you lindo, there will be no killing of me tonight. Besides, there are others that have offered to give me what I want."

Suddenly she laughed thoroughly amused.

"And there is one of the things you wanted to know. That is part of my deal with some of the others of your kind. Watch out darling, you will be seeing my face for a long long time."

"No, I'm trying to see if you're actually human underneath all that armored skin. Turns out you are, biologically speaking."

It was not his intention to leave her mutilated if that's what she thought. He turned her around took her hands. Not roughly as before, but securely, pulling her toward him. In moments, they were on one of the settees and he had her sitting on his left facing him.

"Deal. No dying. And I am neither disappointed or relieved," he said in an even voice, contemplating the rest of her boast. "Others cannot give you what you need."

Wow, behold the Messiah!

If you don't shut up permanently, you're not getting any, tonight.

Silence.

After a moment during which he heard her taking a breath of anticipation, he simply said, "Peace."

Turning his mind back to the reason he brought her back here to sit, Gabriel realized he had wanted the human to be comfortable. Could she even feel comfort? He was about to find out. He began unbuttoning his shirt, all the way down to the navel. He could feel her eyes on him, probably wondering what he was planning to do after that. He took up one of her hands, touching the scar that was now barely visible or felt beneath her fingertips. Just to show her it was still there, almost fully healed.

Releasing her palm, Gabriel quickly moved his hand across his chest, faster than human eye could see. A fresh cut was swiftly registered across his chest and as he removed his hand for her to see, he clutched her hands and pulled her close. He wanted her to drink. And she would do so. The vampire wouldn't even tell her to. She would want to do it, of her own accord*. One hand moved to caress her full mouth, thumb grazing the outline of her lips before issuing a slow nod.

Drink.

PRESENCE 3 - Entrancement: The Kindred makes someone obsessively want to please them.

No, I'm trying to see if you're actually human underneath all that armoured skin...

The words rang over and over in her head. She wasn't quite sure why it was bothering her, but it was. Never had she had any desire of being a human, from she was five she had wanted to be like her mother. Radiant, flawless, frozen perfectly in time. She had dreamt of it, imagined it so many times that it had broken her world when she realized she would not have it. She would never get to live eternity with them.

Feeling him turn her and take her hands drew her back to the present. Forcing the memories of a mother she rarely thought of, back to her subconsciousness. She noted that he was speaking as he leads her back over to a seat, sitting down she narrowed her eyes slowly, suspiciously as he said they could not give her what she wanted. When he paused and silence came over them she almost kicked him impatiently, what was it that he meant she needed?

Annoyed she felt her heart beat a bit faster, and her lungs draw a breath of anticipation before he continued. And when he did she smirked mockingly, like the thought was ridiculous to her. Peace? What would she do with peace? She had no need for that, that was for insecure people who did not like themselves or their lives. She had no problem with her life.

"You are wrong."

It was all she wanted to say on the matter. Instead, she settled a bit more in the seat, actually trying to keep her back away from any fabrics. A small politeness on her behalf that she didn't really realize she did. A bit confused, but mostly curious as to what he was planning she watched as he opened his shirt and took her hand. Moving her fingers she could barely feel the scar underneath her fingertips, and again she caught herself feeling fascinated.

And her curiosity didn't disappear when he let go and a new cut appeared on his chest. Brows furrowed together as she watched the blood pool at the edges before falling down his skin. She was about to huff and go fetch her drink when she felt him take hold of her and pull her close. Looking at him she suddenly felt the overwhelming desire to please him, to do what she could to make him happy. Her eyes widened a moment, as the feeling settled in her.

Damn vampire tricks...

A small voice in the back of her head mumbled as he brushed over her lips. She didn't need more than the nod he gave her before she crawled into his lap. Pulling up her dress to her knees she straddled him before she leaned down and ran her tongue over the wound. Her hands came to rest on his shoulders as her tongue ran over the wound over and over again, a soft moan escaping her at the feeling that followed.

Meadowberries mixed with warm rain.

She was near him now - no, she was about as close for comfort as Gabriels should have allowed - and, gods almighty, her sweet scent was mouthwatering.

With her mouth on him, lapping tirelessly at his blood, Gabriel found himself stiffening in spite of everything. She might have noticed... and subsequently believed his reaction was for her. Maybe even cast him that dime-a-dozen smug smile of hers.

Looking down with his head slightly canted at an angle where he could pick up some details of her face, Gabriel took another curious look at his guest. When she had first walked into the sauna, terse, borderline aggressive and impossibly rude, he wanted to break those perfect features against the porcelain tile, to teach her a lesson in respect. Not much had changed since then, only now she was on his turf, entirely in his power... obeying a wordless command as if it was something she'd yearn for all her life.

Studious gaze skimmed a long black mane of dark brown waves swaying down her back, looking as silky as mink. He remembered a glimpse of a tiny waist, and an impossibly hot ass... And once he had freed her from that rag she called a dress, he saw she only wore a panty and no bra. Those tits. They were generous, their mounds rising and falling with each confident breath taken - a glorious sight. Her skin was a delicious olive, her wide eyes dark and haunting, heavily shaded with kohl. She had high cheekbones and an airy feeling about her face. Her lips were full and ... carnal.

When he'd finally decided she had enough, Gabriel pushed her away, hands clasping her upper arms as he took another sweeping look. Her nipples were straining against the confines of that dress. He'd bet it was his blood that had caused that response.

He inhaled more deeply. Oh, yes, he'd affected her. As aroused as she might have been, Gabriel's muscled also tensed, his body strung tight. His memory recalled other details... a pierced navel with a dainty ring peeking from it? He would nuzzle that. Without going farther south. If he tongued her, she'd know pleasure unlike any other. Possibly. Suddenly, having remembered her mention other Kindred, Gabriel wasn't so certain of his sexual prowess.

Depends. Who are these... others??
Oh damn... this is going to fucking hurt.

As a rule, he would observe and calculate, and wait for his move, but he never enjoyed events unfurl this much - not with mortals. Well, not with MOST mortals. Valerie had been the sole exception to the rule. But with Valerie, he found it easy to stay one or two steps ahead. Anticipate her actions, needs, even. With this one? Unpredictable didn't even begin to describe--

Without warning, he clutched her shoulders and pulled her close, rolling her skirt up so she could straddle him.

Nothing between them but his pants and a few inches. He could feel her heat.

She was definitely not his Bride or even a prospective lover, or he would have ripped through his zipper to get inside her. His heart would have started to beat, his lungs drawing breath. In the space of one of those breaths, he would have been buried so deep in her tightness, wrenching her down on him...

"I am never wrong. You want me. Now say it."

Her tongue never stopped moving, lapping at the blood taking as much as she could in her mouth. Full lips brushing softly against the edges of the wound as she shivered. Her mind was growing hazy, her own blood rushing in her veins at the surge of power and high that came from his blood. She could feel the muscles in her abdomen tighten and she had to hold back the urge to grind her hips against his thigh. Her breasts felt like they were growing heavier, her nipples straining against the fabric of her dress. The soft fabric brushing against them, making her shiver again.

When he pushed her away with a firm hold on her arms she gasped softly. Her breathing was heavier now, with a soft tremble to it. Her eyes heavy and dark pools as she looked at him and tried to get a grip on herself again. There was still a voice in the back of her mind telling her it was a trick, that he was making her feel this way. But it didn't help. Didn't lift the fog on her mind telling her to do as he wanted.

She didn't say anything. Just looked at him with those heavy eyes and flushed cheeks, her breathing lifting her breast up and down slowly as she waited. She wasn't sure what it was she was waiting for, but she knew she would give it to him. A pink tongue darted over her lips, catching the last drops of blood that was there as he pulled her closer.

Her eyes widened quickly in surprise as a short gasp escaped. Settling she felt her heart beat a bit faster, some instinct in her body trying to wake her from the cloud that laid over her mind. When he spoke again she smiled, there was not even hesitation in her movement before she leaned a bit closer.

"I want you..."

Rubì's voice was slightly breathy when she spoke. Hands rising up to rest on his arms, gently caressing them as she bit her lip. From the moment she had said the words she honestly believed them.

"Don't be coy..." Gabriel murmured against her ear leaning in. "I'm not working any mojo on you now; so if you're going to say something, do it because you actually feel it, not because I told you to say it."

He tried not to appear irritated before finishing that sentence. Too much talking. He took his hand away from her waist, only to wrap his arm around her. Tugging close. Bliss. He murmured something low, but it was inaudible for Rubi to hear. Before she could protest or react otherwise, he'd had her in his arms, guiding her hands to wrap about his neck. He was standing. Before she'd realize what was actually happening, he would shift his steps outside, back lawn.

Expecting her to be irritated and confused by his actions rather thoroughly by now, Gabriel smiled and nuzzled her hair.

"Take it easy," he murmured, wishing she would rest her head on his shoulder as he sat in a sprawled out lawn chair that managed to support them both. Then he leaned back and gazed at the stars.

"The biggest mystery of life, is who we truly are," he said quietly. Rubi's past was definitely a mystery to him, and he wondered if perhaps it was worth knowing. As much as he was loathe to admit it, he liked having company - even her company - as opposed to the promiscuous crowd of the Velvet Pearl. And so he held her, wondering if she had ever been cared about, ever been cherished. Her parents were gone. She did not appear to have a boyfriend. How much, if at all, did she crave an unbreakable bond between two people? The closest one that nature would allow?

Did she dream of happier days? Love and a future she could count on?

Gabriel on the other hand, was a killer with plenty of blood on his hands, but he wanted to give his heart away. He ached for a partner, a half of a greater whole, with all the desperation of someone who'd always known something was missing. So he soaked up the closeness of the mortal female like a sponge. Love junkie. And yet, pretending wasn't as good as the real thing.

The warmth of the woman's body affected him. When he recalled her drinking his blood, Gabriel feared he would take her right there and then, and drain her to the very last drop, killing her. So he swiftly disentangled. Diffused the situation. And now they were outdoors, sharing a silence and a sky above, littered with hundreds of stars.

Looking to Rubi's shoulder, he frowned. Did she just shiver? He could not feel the cold, but instinct immediately caused him to draw her closer.

Inward sigh. If he had someone real of his own, he would hold her just like that. She would own his heart, and that would anchor him to her.

And he would never let her float away.

Rubì froze for a moment as he leaned close to her ear. She had not realized he was no longer affecting her and had just spoken on reflex. High on the effect from his blood, and used to give people what they wanted. Always wearing a mask and never letting anyone in, never really speaking the truth. But before she could answer or think more about it he pulled her closer. Her eyes locking with his as her mind slowly returned. She heard him mumble something, but she could not make out the words, making her start to pull away.

But suddenly he was on his feet and making her hold on to him as he carried her away. She wanted to ask what the fuck he was doing. Usually, she could keep up with the best of them, play games and twirl them around her finger until she figured out just what they wanted. But this one? He went from hot to cold to in between faster than she could keep up with, and it was making an unfamiliar feeling settle in her gut. Uncertainty?

Tell him to put you down. You are leaving, this is not worth it.

Feeling him nuzzle her hair and tell her to relax she tried to do just that. Still having the new sensation settling in her gut, not made better when he placed them on a chair on the lawn and began speaking philosophy. What was he doing? She had not come all the way over here to cuddle up like love-crazed teens on the lawn. Her eye twitched annoyed as she tried to sort the feelings that were filling her mind, making a shiver go through her. This was a territory she was no comfortable with, that she had stayed clear of for a long time now.

Get up. Now. This is not worth it.

As she felt him pull her closer she put her hands on his chest and pushed away from him with an annoyed growl.

"Let go of me. The fuck is this?"

Shaking her head she tried to get off him and back on her feet. She was not comfortable with this, not at all. What was the point of sitting snuggled up together like this? It served no purpose for her goals, there was no gain to it nor did she had any interest in it. Casting a look at his face she didn't know that the uncertainty that she was feeling had mixed with her annoyance, showing in her eyes and on her face. Her rage not seeming as genuine as before.

"This is ridiculous and pointless."

Expectancy.

Gabriel had wondered when Rubi was about to fly off the handle; she was coming up a bit overdue... And suddenly - yep, there she was!

Let go of me. The fuck is this?

Instead of answering her, the vampire merely released her, watching her stagger to her feet. Infuriated. Rabid, even. The moment she was free, the girl told him how ridiculous and pointless his actions were. To her? Maybe. But they were not ridiculous or pointless, to him.

So what to do now? Return to pining for the one woman he hadn't been able to seduce? He met her gaze with his, looking for a hint of malice in those gleaming dark eyes of hers. If it had been burning there, it did not seem as volatile as before. What did that mean? Was she playing him? No, she did not appear to crave tender loving care.

Quite the opposite.

Rubi was quite the sensual creature; many of his friends and foes alike would be tempted by her. Where assassins would fail to get past sentinels, he could envision her easily seducing her way into a place - any place. And even if divested of all her weapons, the mortal still carried death in her very blood...

Like her, Gabriel had previous successes as a hitman. Later on, his pursuits expanded, and he found himself drifting farther and farther away from the world of secrets, spying and interrogating - while still killing as necessary, of course. For all these pursuits he'd often use sex as a weapon - callously exploiting his targets' weaknesses or perversions. They offered little challenge to the likes of him, and probably always would.

He narrowed his eyes at her, scanning to see if she'd fly or fight. It would be midnight soon. And if she ran, would he chase after her like some slavering lad? No. None of that. Remember who you are and how far you have come... That's right. He would be damned if Rubi Caldera proved to be his undoing. She was bad for him. She was bad for anyone that crossed her path. She was even bad for herself, though she did not care about that particular fact.

Gabriel's feet suddenly found pavement. Bad girls got punished.

His expression was a mix of amusement and lust, his attention dipping to her body.

He told her tits: "I think it's high time we went back inside."

When he released her she got to her feet rather quickly, even with a small stumble to her steps. Not used to having to care about wearing a long dress she cursed and grabbed the skirts lifting it to her knees before looking at him again. In the back of her mind, she could still hear a voice telling her to get out of there. That this wasn't worth it, it had been fun but he was starting to make her uncomfortable. And she wasn't sure if he was doing it on purpose to mess with her head or not.

Her eyes didn't move from him. Like she was still trying to decide what to do when he rose up from the seat. Seeing the expression on his face her eyes narrowed slowly, like someone suspicious of danger. Her heart doing an actual nervous skip before she managed to will it into calming down to its normal steady beat. Willpower was a good thing.

"Fine. Just stop messing with my head. I don't like it."

Taking a better hold of her skirts she stepped past him and moved for the house. She should just keep walking until she exited the house and found her bike again. But there was this little part of her that was still curious, that was having fun with the unknown factor her newest friend made. That liked the challenge. Not casting a look back at him she just kept walking for the house.

Fine. Just stop messing with my head. I don't like it.

Was that a request or a demand? Gabriel could not quite tell. They walked into the house in silence, with the Toreador contemplating his answer.

"Fine. I will stop messing with your head when you tell me all the names of your Kindred associates. Starting with your most recent fuck. But we will get to that in due time."

The Toreador moved into the open family room. There was an adjacent bar there, with stools. Whoever put one there was as quirky as he was brilliant. Gabriel stepped behind the bar and motioned her to come closer. He did not ask her to take a seat - there was no point. If she did not want to, she would simply ignore him. On the other hand, if he let her have some control over her actions, perhaps she would not be barking so much.

Just to make sure she did not flip out again thinking that he was offering Rubi his own blood, Gabriel gestured to the wall of shelves behind him, lined with alcohol of every genre and palate. And don't flatter yourself, honey - I am not attempting to get you drunk. If I were, we'd still be in the wardrobe room, your swollen mouth wrapped around my bloody cock. Gaze locked on Rubi's face this time, he smiled.

"Drink?"

She didn't answer him, to begin with. Just followed him into a new room and watched him walk behind the bar. Wondering why he was so curious as to her associates. Coming up to the bar she took a seat, no need to keep standing when there were places to sit. Instead she just kept watching him, still suspicious of what it was he was planning. But instead of telling him what he wanted right away she thought she might share some insight into her behaviour.

"Tequila."

Fixing her dress she turned back to him before continuing.

"I don't like intimacy. I don't like feelings. I don't need friends and I don't need loved ones if you wanna fuck, torture me or drink. That's fine. But I have no need of being held or holding anyone. It's not who I am. If that's what you are looking for, then you need to continue to look, because I can't give it to you... As for my associates."

Assuming he had put her drink in front of her she would reach for it and take a sip of it, feeling the delicious burn down her throat before moving on to his question.

"What makes you think I even know their real names? And my most recent fuck, I assume you mean of your kind then?"

Smirking she laughed softly before cracking the vertebras of her neck.

"There was a young one. Charles, something, never got the last name. I also assume it is fake since even his accent was fake in the beginning. Then there was this rather creepy dude in an alley, saw me smite one of you guys, Mr Eckert, which I know is a fake name. Oh and Victor LaGuardia, only one I know isn't fake."

Nodding, Gabriel turned to grab a bottle of Rey Sol Anejo, its bottle known all over the globe for its sun-like appearance. He poured her a drink, already smelling hints of spicy vanilla and sweet caramel wafting from the bottle and now, from the glass. There were -almost- times (like this one), when Gabriel wished he could partake of mortal food. Oh well. His hand dipped to a bottom shelf, bringing forth a decanter filled with a deep-garnet liquid. That one required no explanation.

He wouldn't even bother grabbing a glass and proceeded to drink straight from the bottle. Maybe it would amuse his guest - then again, he did not give a fuck about her entertainment right about now. Oh, but wait... she started talking. Explaining things. What's this? He never anticipated... THIS?

Blatant honesty seemed to pour out of every phrase, but there was something else, as well. Regret? No, it could not have been. Oh, fuck it. Not like you would tell me if I asked you to your face. You would hate me if I told you, so I won't say a word. I'll just.... watch you. What a pretty picture you make. That's right, Rubi... show me those other intense emotions you feel but would never show - not to anyone, including yourself.***

And then came the introduction of her Kindred allies. Clever girl, she knew exactly what he was after. Not that he was about to start a ledger of her Kindred conquests. No way. Naturally, he was only making conversation in the controversial fashion she was so used to.

"Charles. Hmm, fake accent... must have hit all the right nerves, eh?" This one could have been Tenebris; they all played tricks like that. "Mr. Eckert? Sounds German." It was not a name that struck a bell at all; possibly a different house of Erebos altogether. "Victor? You got a meeting with a fucking Ventrue?" His eyes widened in mock disbelief, though Rubi would not be able to tell it for what it was - it looked too genuine to a mortal. "Get out..." He laughed, shaking his head and taking another sip of his drink. "And what exactly is it that you hope to get from all these - I'm assuming - handsome and virile, gentlemen?"

She wasn't sure why she had decided to be honest with him. Like she had said she wasn't looking for friends or people to grow close to. It was a useless sentiment she had no room for in her life. But on the other hand, she knew that she had overreacted and at least she could tell him out of some sort of respect. Her eyes watched as he grabbed a bottle of what was clearly his own personal favourite. At least if she was going to judge on the way he drank it straight from the bottle. In a way, it amused her, as he did not seem like the type to skip the glasses.

In the meantime, her mind was working overtime trying to repress the memories he had awakened. Flashes of her mother, memories from when she was a child. The laughter her mother always could draw from her, and how she had calmed her when she had been angry of confused about not being able to feel pain and comforted her in her own way when she had hurt herself to try and feel something.

Stop it. Do not let this fairytale looking asshole break the dam we built up so many years ago. Get a grip girl. Now.

The voice was right. Making her take the remaining of her drink, as she focused on shutting it all down again. The fear of being alone, the pain of losing her mother, the anger and hatred for everything in the world for having it so easy. It was all snuffed out as quickly as it had come up, making her feel in control again.

Her focus fell back on Gabriel. Listening to him take a summary of her contacts in the city she just arched a brow and then shook her glass to gesture that she wanted more.

"Yes I did, with him and his second in command. Wasn't that hard. Most of your kind get rather curious when a girl slams a stake on the table smirking."

His next question made her give him a look like she was wondering if he was a bit slow.

"Isn't that obvious? I want help in crushing The Brotherhood, I know I can't do it on my own. And I want to be Embraced when its over. Simple as that."

Gabriel smirked, pushing the bottle across the counter to Rubi, his head shaking slowly.

"Careful. Tequila tastes like water at first - and then you'll be all over me. Again."

That's right. You can be my cheap suit any time.

And off she went again, repeating her objective of crushing the Brotherhood, like a broken record.

"Yes, you have said that before. And I am telling you now that you are wasting your time. Do you want to know why? Let me explain this to you in ways you can understand."

The Toreador grabbed an ice cube from a freezer, a little sphere no bigger than the tip of his thumb. Opening up a cupboard below the sink, he procured a hammer and laid both on the counter in front of Rubi. "Pay close attention. You are the little ball of ice." Pointing to it, he flashed her a wry grin, apparently unhappy with having to continue onto the next part. "The hammer is a Kindred you haven't fucked yet. Name's Marcus Julius Valerian."

Without ceremony, Gabriel picked up the hammer and smashed the ball of ice into smitherines. Some flew into Rubi's face, others smashed into her glass, nearly splintering. "Hmm. Sorry about that." He particularly enjoyed watching one icy tear slip down the front of her gown, between her breasts--

"Anyway!" He continued, without bothering to wipe the counter. "Your agenda is getting in someone's face. Someone that will accept no challenge to his aims. How will he feel when he learns of you and your plan? Likely vexed. How will he deal with you, if you continue to get in between him and the Brotherhood? Likely bloody. And he will not do it himself. He may send me. Or his enforcers. It doesn't matter in the long run -who- gets to do the deed. A mortal - any mortal - no matter how sexy, beautiful, vindictive, clever or creative - is still only a bug he will see squashed underneath his boot. And how will it all end? You will draw your last breath, having never seen the face of your executioner."

Quiet pause. Gabriel took another sip of his drink, watching the girl above the rim of his glass.

"You are not the only one hunting David Stern. But you're swimming directly in the face of a much bigger fish... and I'd hate to see you crumble before your long awaited Embrace ever comes to pass. Whoever you talked to - if they are my people - if they are Erebos, they will never lift a finger to help you. They will use you for their own ends and discard your carcass when it is no longer of any use. Understand?"

He could help her. Yes. He could. But she would never accept his offer. The price was too high.

"Sweetheart. I am Mexican, I had Tequila with my breast milk. I know how much I can handle."

He went off on a rant. Trying to explain to her why she was doomed in her endeavour. In the meantime she poured herself another drink, sipping this one as she kept her eyes on Gabriel and his... Vivid way of explaining to her what was waiting ahead. She didn't move, didn't speak while he explained. Not even when shards of ice hit her. She simply reached up and wiped some water away from her face before resuming to look at him with her usual bitchy face.

But at least now she got an explanation for the name she had heard LaGuardia had mentioned. Valerian. Apparently a last name, and the bloodsucker she really wanted to meet. Since it seemed he was at the top of the food chain. When Gabriel was done she smiled and took a deep breath.

"I am not stupid. I am aware that anyone of the vamps I have talked to are using me for their own goal. As I am using them. And when it comes to this Marcus Valerian... I am already aware that LaGuardia is going to fill him in on how I am able to help. I am not interested in leading this war, I am no leader, and not a soul would follow a cold-hearted bitch like me."

She took a sip of her drink before she crossed her arms and leaned forward on the bar locking eyes with the man in front of her.

"I am a soldier. A Spy. That is what I am good at. And if this Marcus Valerian is a clever man, he will see the use for me in his war against The Brotherhood. I will get him whatever information he wants, feed whatever fake information to them that he wants. I don't care that I am not the one to set the fire, I just want to be the one to cut off David Stern's head. I want to look in his eyes and laugh, seeing him realize that I am the one that brought the vampires to his door and showed them where to aim."

Leaning back again she took a new deep breath, like the very idea of doing that to David was turning her on. Laughing softly she smiled as she finished her thought.

"I know what I am. I am a blunt weapon, I just need someone powerful to swing me the right way."

"And your humanity? Tell me your plans for that. For after the Embrace."

Gabriel heard every word she said but decided to swing the conversation in a different direction for a moment. At least she did not freak out when he mentioned Valerian. And she seemed fine with the idea of being placed on par with the lowest peon. Alright? Maybe she had chances of surviving this clusterfuck. But maybe she didn't. Not with this bloody wall of ice she put about herself. The fact that she did not seem to feel any physical pain or anguish did not do her any favors, either...

"You're going to get turned by some asshole Brujah or crazed Malkavian who won't care or remember what your name is and will kick you to the curb the moment they're done feeding on you... And you will rise the ultimate bitch from hell, someone who feels nothing but cold, ireful hate. Good thing your mother's dead, right, Rubi? Because if she saw that, her heart would break, knowing what you have become... heh. Sad little princess in a sad little tower she built herself, with her bloodied greedy hands... And now, here you are... using revenge as a cover for what you really want. But what you cannot have."

He shook his head, downing the rest of his vitae, then set the empty vessel very gently on the counter - without making a sound.

"Love. Yes... You loved your parents once, and then you were the instrument of their doom. You hate yourself for that, because killing them, killed the very last humane part of you. And now you are here, with me. Coincidence? Maybe. Or maybe some part of you was drawn to a part of me, in spite of both of us vehemently denying it? And moments ago, I felt your regret - it was like the death of innocence, the very first time a transgression banishes conscience. You're so transparent."

Locking his stormy gaze with Rubi's, the vampire laughed.

"Misguided child. Save yourself. Let go of your hate."

Her humanity? She didn't give two shits about her humanity. For all, she cared the rest of the world and everyone in it could burn, and she wouldn't flinch. Her mother hadn't needed it, her stepfather hadn't needed it, so why would she? After all, she had spent her entire life keeping people at bay, who was there left to care about? No one, she had made sure of it. And now she didn't give two shits about everyone else in the world.

But he didn't stop there, wasn't happy just wondering what she would do about her humanity. Instead, it seemed he wanted to push every single nerve she had in her body. And it started by the mention of her mother. She could feel how her anger flared. Her smirk dropping slowly as he spoke until there was no emotion left to be seen on her face, except her eyes. If he wasn't careful, he could catch fire just from looking at the hellish anger that was shining there.

When he was done she didn't answer. Not at first, there was no rush to her movements as she downed the last of her drink. Then calmly rose from her seat and leaned over the bar.

"Kindly jump off the end of your own cock and straight to hell. You judgemental asshole. You don't know me, and you definitely do not get to talk about my mother or talk badly about her clan. Both her and my stepdad were Brujah and proud of it. I have no interest in taking a fucking lecture from someone like you, you think you better than me? At least I don't throw judgement around like I was God himself. I didn't come here to have some amateur psychologist, give me an analysis. I came here to have fun, and what do I find. An old man locked in his own house, moping in the dark, handing out judgement on others. Just because you don't have any fire in your belly, the strength to take what you want, doesn't make me shit for having it. Let me know when you need a sugar cube for that high horse of yours."

Flipping him off she turned and started to walk away from there. Just to stop after a few steps and turn and look at him.

"I was attracted to the darker side of you. I just didn't know it came with this holier than thou attitude of yours. No wonder you are alone. At least I am by choice."

Then she kept walking towards the exit.

"You don't mean that."

But of course she did. Every word. Gabriel could feel the loathing ebbing off of her in waves. No, she was right: he did not know her, and he probably had little right to talk about her parents. Brujah. Of course, how could he go up against the warrior-kings? She was half way there already, unless another Kindred snatched her up for his own, but then... that would be a dastardly trap. A lie she would have to live out for the rest of her eternity. And why? Because he, Gabriel Villiers, felt slighted by some mortal's mere words? He ignored the rest of her rant. Now she was just being plain cruel, not realizing that her words would never skim past the surface, never mind touch, the core of him.

"You were attracted to the darker side of me."

All she wanted was the physicality of an encounter. No feelings. No emotions. That's what Rubi felt, made her weak. Made her vulnerable. And she pushed back at him, throwing out an arsenal of words that she felt - for whatever reason - would make him shudder.

"I am not alone, miss Caldera. Whores are easy to come by. As far as worthiness, I have yet to find one to Embrace all that I have to offer. Sadly, mortals have gone down hill past the nineteenth century."

Is that what she wanted? Some kind of brief affair, a momentary bliss? He could even fake an erection for her, if she would like. But first... No. First, he'd have to hurt her.

"Like you."

He stalked closer to her, shifting ahead of her, blocking her path. She'd shown quite the defiance against a Kindred male. And Gabriel was fine with it, even enjoyed it... but at this moment, foreplay was over.

"I am going to kill you. Unless you can persuade me otherwise. Oh, and yes - do run. Do your best to hide. Whatever you think will make you impervious to my current desires. Surprise me. Seduce me. Ravish me with your pleas. Let me be your armor..."

She ignored him. Every word he was saying was fall off her like water. She was done with this. Done with him, done with this night. There was nothing left to gather here. She could still hear him speak, throw words at her she was done listening to. Instead, all she did was lift her hand and show him the finger again, still moving for the door with no hesitation. At least until he was standing in front of her.

Looking up at him she didn't flinch, she didn't move, just looked at him with her face ice cold and eyes fiery with anger. No emotion registered on her when he said he would kill her. There was nothing that could be called a reaction until he was done speaking. Then she licked her lips and took a step closer to him.

"You want me to beg? Want me to get on my knees, cry and shout at the injustice of you taking my life? Want me to run? Screaming and terrified? Is that what makes your blood boil? Makes you tick?"

She didn't stop until she was so close he could feel the heat of her body touching him. Her head falling to the side, as she gave him an almost seductive look.

"Read my lips handsome... Not. Happening... Want to kill me. Go ahead, I got nothing keeping me here than my revenge. No one who is going to miss me or cry over that I am gone. A few other vamps might be annoyed that they no longer have an in at The Brotherhood, but I am sure no one is going to care much about it. I am not going to spend my last moments begging to the likes of you or giving you the pleasure of watching me run. I'd rather die standing on my own two legs, laughing at your face."

Taking a step back she threw her arms out, like an open invitation while she looked at him. Her face cold again, her eyes fearless and filled with fury. Rubì had never begged for anything in her life. And she was not going to start now. It was pointless to run, he would catch her as soon as he was done playing with her. Besides, she had never been afraid of dying.
